About Me

My photo
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I start this blog in an effort to pass on the legacy of light that I have been blessed with because of the gospel of Jesus Christ to my children and their children. I hope that others will benefit as well.

Ponderize

Each week I try to choose a scripture to "ponderize," meaning that I think about how that scripture applies to my life and try to memorize the gist of it and where it is located.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:  when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.  For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior . . . .
Isaiah 41:10

May 17-24:
For thou art my lamp, O Lord; and the Lord will lighten my darkness.  For by thee I have run through a troop:  by my God have I leaped over a wall."
2 Samuel 22:29-30

April 15-22:
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40: 28,29,31

March 31-April 7:
For behold, my beloved bethren, I say unto you that the Lord God woreth not in darkness.  He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him.  Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.
2 Nephi 26:23-24
I found this one during my scripture study this morning.  It couldn't have come at a better time.  It is so good to know that someone like the Savior is always in my corner.

March 24-March 31:
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
Mosiah 4:9
What a beautiful thing to remember during this Easter season and always, especially in a world that seems to be spiraling perilously away from God.

February 7-13:
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Hebrews 2:1
This is a reminder to me to pay closer attention to what the prophets, apostles, and scriptures teach me and conscientiously apply them to my life.

January 25-31:
I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.
Doctrine and Covenants 84:88
I chose this scripture simply because I needed a reminder that I am never alone.

January 18-24:
Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.
Doctrine and Covenants 6:36
I chose this scripture this week not just because it is our theme at Oakcrest Girls Camp, where I serve on the Women's Committee, but because it reminds me that if I seek the Savior's help each day, I have nothing to fear or doubt in a world that is filled with fear and doubt.

February 25-March 3:

And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
Ether 12:27
